Terms of service

Written for the Amazon App Dev Challenge 2026 build.

Using Nearby

Nearby works with your own Ring devices to tell you what happens at home and on your street. Use it for your own home and with the agreement of anyone whose home you look after.

Be a good neighbour

Don’t use Nearby to watch, follow, identify or confront anyone. Street reports and requests for footage are for real incidents only. We remove misuse and may close accounts that misuse Nearby.

Sending footage through a link

Anyone can answer a footage request link (nearby.cam/r/…) without the app. Send only footage you took yourself that is relevant to that time and place. Don’t name or describe anyone, or say who you think did it. Nothing offensive, violent, sexual or harassing. What you send goes only to the person who asked; they can report it and block you, and we remove anything that breaks these terms. Files are deleted when the request ends (30 days at most).

What Nearby isn’t

Nearby is not a safety, security or emergency service, and alerts may be late or missed. In an emergency, call 999.
