For RingNeighbours, family and deliveries

Your doorbell, looking out for you

Neighbours who can help after a break-in, a nudge when Mum’s carer doesn’t come, and proof when a courier says they tried.

Nearby’s Home tab: three bins collected tomorrow with one out, two visits at the door, and two neighbours asking for footage

Your doorbell already sees the car that got clipped, the carer who didn’t come and the courier who didn’t knock. Nearby tells you about each one, and lets neighbours help without anyone being watched.

One doorbell, the whole household

Your neighbours, your family and your deliveries, from the Ring you already have.

Nearby’s Home page: your door today, thirteen visits each one named, a dog walk, the post at 11:20am and someone going out at 7:42am, each with its picture

Every visit, named

Parcel, food, post or visitor, and the whole day in one sentence on Home.

Nearby’s Deliveries page: twelve courier claims checked against the doorbell, two of them not seen

Proof when they say they tried

If your doorbell saw nobody, Nearby signs the pictures and writes the complaint to the shop.

Nearby’s Street page: three bins go out tomorrow by 7am, the recycling bin is out and the general waste bin isn’t yet

Your street, at a glance

The bin lorry on its way, bin day and road closures from neighbours, never saying whose camera.

Nearby’s Family page: a normal day for all, Mum out at 9:12am and due back at 5:45pm, Dad home and up at 7:45am

A nudge about family

A carer who doesn’t come, or the door at 3am. Only with your relative’s agreement, and they see who looked.

Nearby’s Neighbours page: two requests for your footage, a stolen bike today and a stolen car yesterday, and a vandalism clip you shared

Help after an incident

Ask the cameras nearby after a break-in. Each owner shares one clip, deleted after 30 days.

Lock-screen alerts from Nearby: a quiet morning at Mum’s, a neighbour asking for footage, the bin lorry 7 minutes away

Alerts that matter

A quiet morning at Mum’s, a neighbour asking for help, the bin lorry 7 minutes away.

Frequently asked questions.

What is Nearby?

An iPhone app for your Ring doorbell. It checks a courier’s “we tried” against your footage, tells you when a relative’s day looks different, keeps you up to date on your street, and asks nearby cameras for help after an incident. It never tracks anyone.

Do I need a Ring camera?

Yes. Nearby connects to your Ring doorbell or camera through the Ring Appstore. Ring needs an active Ring Protect plan (or trial) to share recordings.

Which couriers can Nearby check?

Any of them: Evri, DPD, Royal Mail, Yodel, Amazon, and engineers or tradespeople with booked visits. Photograph their card, paste their message or set the time yourself.

Can my neighbours see my camera?

No. Neighbours only ever see anonymous street events, like “bin lorry spotted”, and clips you choose to share for a specific incident. Every clip is shared by its owner, one request at a time.

Does Nearby track people?

No. There is no face recognition, no number-plate reading, and no following anyone across cameras. Neighbours asks for a few minutes of footage by distance and walking time only.

Is Family a safety alarm?

No. Family is a gentle nudge, shared with your relative’s agreement. It is not a safety or emergency service. In an emergency, call 999.

What happens to my data?

Ring access is encrypted with AWS KMS and stored in the EU. Evidence and incidents expire after 30 days, no one at Nearby browses your footage, and Delete my account in Settings removes everything.
